If you’re in the market for a reliable and durable dive watch that won’t break the bank, the Casio Duro MDV106-1A is a great option to consider. It’s a timepiece that has gained a reputation as a budget-friendly alternative to higher-end dive watches, yet still offers a range of impressive features. In this review, we’ll explore the various aspects of the watch, including its design, performance, and specifications, to help you decide if it’s the right watch for you.

But first, let’s take a brief look at the Casio brand. Casio is a Japanese electronics company founded by Tadao Kashio in April 1946. Since the release of its first wristwatch in 1974, the company has been introducing a range of exceptional watches, including digital and analog watches. Casio is famous for its G-Shock range of shock-resistant watches and its headquarters are located in Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan.

Now, let’s take a closer look at the watch itself.

Casio MDV106-1A

Casio MDV106-1A Case

The Casio Duro MDV106-1A watch boasts a durable stainless steel case that measures 44 millimeters in diameter and 12.3 millimeters in thickness. The lug-to-lug distance spans 49 millimeters, while the lug width measures 22 millimeters. It’s important to note that some websites incorrectly mention the lug width as 20 millimeters but it’s actually 22 millimeters.

The case is brushed on the top and bottom and polished on all other sides, featuring an unsigned screw-down crown at the 3 o’clock position, which is protected by crown guards. The screw-down case back showcases a marlin logo and indicates that the watch has a Japanese movement, but is cased in China.

Additionally, the watch is equipped with a unidirectional 120-click bezel that features an aluminum insert with minute markers ranging from 1 to 50 minutes, along with a lume pip at the 12 o’clock position. However, the bezel rotation is slightly rigid and produces a ratchet-like sound.
